The TonsBridge School Fest 2022

The TonsBridge Fest – the School’s first Inter-School Literary, Art and Cultural Activities Competition- began on October 10 with Ignited Minds- The Inter-School Quiz.

Nine schools, viz. Summer Valley, RIMC, The Indian Public School, Army Public School (Birpur), Army Public School (Clement Town), Doon International (Riverside), DSB International, Him Jyoti and The TonsBridge School, participated in the Quiz.

Hosted by the Quiz Master, Mr K. K. Sharma, the quiz began with a preliminary qualifying round after which Summer Valley, RIMC, Army Public School (Birpur), Army Public School (Clement Town), DSB International and The TonsBridge qualified for the main Quiz.

The Main Quiz had eleven rounds- Current Affairs, History, Melodious Moods, Picture Perfect, Sports, Woman Power, Art & Entertainment, Movie Mania, Ignited Minds and Buzzer.

All the teams put up an impressive performance, the final results being as follows:-

First– Summer Valley School

Second– Army Public School (Clement Town)

Third– RIMC

The Chief Guest for the Quiz was Mr Harinder Singh Juneja, Director of Maple Bear and Adroit Progressive Schools. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the high standard of the Quiz as well as the efforts of all the teams. He also emphasized the need to go beyond the classroom to effectively impart education to the students. The programme concluded with the School’s Chairman Mr Vijay Nagar presenting a memento to the Chief Guest and a vote of thanks by the Director, Mr Shailendra Benjamin.

Those present on the occasion included Mr Vijay Nagar, Chairman of The TonsBridge School, Mr Shailendra Benjamin (Director), Mr K. K. Sharma, and the staff and students of the school.

Engaging Minds- The Inter-School Debate

The School organised its annual Inter-School Debate “Engaging Minds” On October 11. Eight schools, viz. Summer Valley School, St. Thomas’ College, APS (Clementown), DIS (Riverside), DSB International (Rishikesh), Him Jyoti, Mount Litera Zee, CBSE SCHOOL IN DEHRADUN, and TonsBridge, participated in the Debate. The Debate was judged by Dr Rati Oberoi, Col. Arun Sareen and Col. Sushant Bhattacharya.

The topic for the Debate was “History is just that- history. it should be abolished as a subject in schools.” All the participants forcefully presented their views for or against the motion, supporting their views with conviction, hard facts and good reasoning. The results were as follows:-

Best Speaker (Against)- Aditi Mashyal (St. Thomas’ College) and Samriddhi Singhal (DSB International)

The Chief Guest for the Debate was Mr Samuel Jaideep, the Principal of Cambrian Hall School. Speaking on the occasion, the judges as well as the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of all the speakers and passed on some tips to the participants and the audience.

Day 3 of the School’s Inter-School Literary, Art and Cultural Activities Competition- The TonsBridge Fest- witnessed the Inter-School Music Competition- Sur Sanchay. Eight schools- APS (Clementown), APS (Birpur), Social Baluni Public School, DSB International (Rishikesh), Him Jyoti, Colonel’s Academy, Mount Litera Zee and TonsBridge- participated in the Competition.

The Competition was held in four categories- Hindi Patriotic Group Song, Hindi Bollywood Duet Song, English Solo Song and English Devotional Group Song. The competition was judged by three eminent persons from the field of music in Dehradun- Mr Ravi Kiran, Mrs Sandhya Mukherjee and Mrs Vijaya Sahay.

The contestants in all the categories performed extremely well, winning repeated applause from the audience. The results of the Competition were as follows:-

The TonsBridge School Wins the Overall Trophy

The TonsBridge School’s inaugural Inter-School Literary, Art and Cultural activities competition- The TonsBridge Fest- concluded on Thursday, October 13 with the Honourable Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh  PVSM, AVSM, UYSM, VSM (retd.), who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, giving away the prizes to the winners.

The programme began with the Inter-School Dance Competition- Nritya Sanchay. Students from eight schools participated in four categories of dances- Indian Folk, Indian Classical, Western Folk and Western Classical- displaying their outstanding dancing skills to mesmerize the audience.

In a highly passionate and inspirational address, the Chief Guest exhorted the students to always remember their parents and teachers and lead disciplined life. He also passed on some tips from his personal experience on ways to improve in academics and as an individual.

The School’s Chairman, Mr Vijay Nagar, in his address, thanked the Governor for gracing the occasion and apprised the gathering of his vision of inculcating discipline, good health and patriotism in the students.
